Janet G. Snell
My painting life, or life as I know it, began in the 1970's with oil
painting classes. While continuing with oils, acrylics began to be
more and more popular. It has been my good fortune to attend
seminars and conventions and to study with many, many well known
Decorative Artists. Included in that list are JoSonja, Sherry
Nelson, Cheri Rol, Helen Cavin, Ann Kingslan and Mary Gibilisco to
name a few. Having studied with so many Decorative Artists with such
varied styles, I have tried to select what I found important and
apply it to my designing. Of course, that means still life, antiques
and more.
I have taught locally in the upstate New York for a number of years,
as well as at conventions and mini conventions. My involvement with
my local SDP chapter has met serving in many offices as well as
chairing their local mini convention in Saratoga, NY in 1997.
Decorative Painting has been such a part of my life for so long and
for that I am very fortunate. The many friends that I have made all
across the country contribute to who I am today.
Keep painting, enjoying new friends and always strive to challenge
yourself with new techniques and the study of the theory behind what
you paint. It is so important for growth in your painting.
